Ross Goldstein - Perth

Managing Director WA, Group Director

Ross is the founding director of Mergers & Acquisitions. He previously held senior positions in sales and marketing with several world-leading companies and has worked out of the UK, South Africa and Australia.

Following accounting and legal studies, Ross started one of Australia’s largest business broking operations that he later sold to a publicly listed company. He has been involved in several start-up businesses including food related and on-line marketing.

Ross has attended conferences around the world on subjects that impact upon this industry and has been a regular lecturer and trainer on the subject.

Jeff Roberts - Perth

Director WA, Group Director - B.Bus, G. Cert. App Fin (Sec Inst), CPA

Jeff has been with Mergers & Acquisitions for 20 years and specialises in sales of large businesses across all industries to Australian and International buyers.

Jeff is a member of CPA Australia, has a Bachelor of Business Degree and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment. He has a strong background in commerce having spent around 16 years in senior accounting & finance positions, including Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary for a number of ASX listed companies. His experience includes roles with companies in mining, exploration, resources services, merchant banking, stockbroking, insurance broking, R&D and manufacturing.

Jeff has a great deal of experience in large and often complex business sale transactions as well as business valuations across a wide range of industries. He has personally handled or lead teams involved in more than 100 business sales ranging in price from several million dollars to in excess of $100 million.

Mal Walker - Sydney

Managing Director - MBA, Dip. Accounting, Dip. Marketing

Mal is an experienced CEO having led businesses such as Maytag, Strongform and Camfil. Previously Mal held senior commercial roles with 3M, Southcorp Appliances and Southcorp Wines.

Mal’s business experience includes both corporate and private equity spanning a broad range of industries including industrial products, consumer appliances, wine, retail and import distribution.

Mal was the founding CEO of Strongform and partnered with ANZ Private Capital. Mal originated, led and oversaw several acquisitions including due diligence and portfolio company profit improvement initiatives for Strongform.

Mal has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management at Macquarie University. Over the past 30 years Mal has a strong track record of growing businesses organically and through acquisition.

Aisha Nicolay - Melbourne

Consultant – B. Bus (Accounting)

Aisha is an experienced senior executive with more than 19 years’ experience in the corporate domain. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), she has worked both locally and internationally in various roles.

Aisha has held a number of senior positions with Coffey International, Ernst & Young, rogenSi, Siemens Australia, and PWC. Her experience includes global business development, strategy consulting, risk advisory, and commercial management.

Most recently, Aisha has focussed on high value consulting, advising on strategic initiatives and development of value propositions, positioning and relationship development to support transactional pursuits and deals. Her experience provides Mergers & Acquisitions clients with expertise in business marketing campaigns and highlighting competitive advantages for attainment of superior transactional results.

Brenton Buchanan - Perth

Associate Director – B. Bus (Accounting) and CPA

Brenton has a Bachelor of Business degree and a post graduate degree in Accounting. He is a member of CPA Australia. His background includes 16 years in corporate banking and around 5 years in investment banking; dealing with capital raising, syndicate management and registered training organisations style transactions.

During his tenure at a major ‘Big Four’ Australian bank, Brenton was the recipient of the inaugural national award for private equity work. Brenton has considerable deal experience in business sales over many different sectors.

Brett Bannister - Perth

Associate Director - MBA CPM

Brett is an experienced CEO and Company Director who has held senior executive leadership positions in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. His previous appointments have included local and international profit responsibility, strategy development, business turnarounds, sales, global business development and marketing with Wormald Security, Chubb Security, Tyco International and more recently as Chief Executive Officer (Australasia & North Asia) for UK based OCS Group.

His background includes more than than 25 years of commercial expertise with extensive P&L management and M&A transaction leadership including acquisition growth programs, target identification, commercial & operational due diligence, industry valuations, completion and post acquisition integration across various business sectors in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Brett holds a Masters in Business Administration (Executive) from Melbourne University, is a Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) and has formal qualifications in Management, Marketing, Corporate Governance, Security and Risk Management. He is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian Marketing Institute and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jim Grevell - Brisbane

Associate Director

Jim is a former Lawyer with over 25 years’ experience providing commercial advice to small and medium businesses, including sale and acquisition transactions.

After facilitating the sale of his legal practice, Jim entered the Mergers and Acquisitions field in 2014 and brings an analytical, strategic and transactional strength to the Mergers and Acquisitions team.

Nicholas Martin - Melbourne

Director Victoria - B.Com, CPA

Nick is a member of CPA Australia and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce. Nick commenced working in finance and progressed through financial, operational and management positions with private and listed organisations in the manufacturing, engineering, industrial services, construction and chemical industries. His career has included roles in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Most recently, Nick spent six years working in the Mergers & Acquisitions arena for a major private Australian organisation. He was involved in the development of M&A strategies, target identification, vendor negotiations, due diligence and completion and transition management. Nick’s experience includes completion of a range of asset and share transactions up to $150 million.

Tony Newham - Sydney

Associate Director - B. Bus, DFP, MBA, GMAICD

Tony has been a mergers and acquisitions professional for over 10 years having held corporate and advisory roles with National Australia Bank, Aussie Home Loans and Ernst and Young. Tony has a Bachelor of Business Degree, a Diploma of Financial Planning, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Tony has experience in transactions across numerous industries including banking and finance, wagering, infrastructure, FMCG and the not-for-profit sector.
